As it's all gone a bit quiet here, I thought I'd post some pictures of my new Pinzgauer CB installation. The CB unit is a Midland 48 Multi which I fitted a few days ago. It runs straight off the Pinz's 24V power supply without needing a voltage step down.
From the outside the CB install looks like this:
The aerial uses the original blanked off antenna mount on the roof, apart from having a metal plate in place of the plastic antenna cap which was originally on the truck. I'm getting SWRs of 1.1 to just below 1.5 so it seems to be working. See:
Inside the cab, it all looks like this:
I'm really pleased with the wiring. I'm picking the power up from the amphenol socket behind the passenger seat. The aerial cable runs from the antenna mount to the unit, with the spare loops tucked away between the unit and the roof. A few cable ties keeps it all neat and out of the way.

Good point. I will admit that it's more useful at off-road, rather than on-road, speeds. I do have some headphones so I could give them a go on my next long trip. I usually wear ear plugs for long journeys though.

A couple of pictures of my waffle board brackets too. I can adjust them to take two or four boards depending on what I'm doing:

I made a roof mounted box for my stereo out of 2mm steel plate (it's what I had lying around!) and welded the whole thing to the roof. I left enough space for the CB to be mounted beside it but forgot that the mic would swing around and belt me in face every so often!

Neat too, although the metalwork looks thicker than 2mm in the photos.
