I'm tinkering with the idea of putting together a Landcruiser (but could also include Surf, etc) technical archive and message board.

Along similar lines to the Suzukitech board that I've run for a couple of years now (www.suzukitech.org). There'll be a web site, forum and a store of downloads of manuals, articles, tips, tricks, etc.

The test site is live now at www.landcruisers.org

Before I spend too much time, effort and cash on this does anyone think it would be a good idea? Would anyone use it?

Thanks for your time.

Pete

There is already a very popular Surf forum at www.hiluxsurf.co.uk with a huge amount of members. If it going to along the lines of Suzukitech and strictly technical you may be onto something.

Hi,
I wish you well with your proposal. I too, have spent a bit of time on the site to which Phil refers. In my view the surf site is good (due to the extraordinary efforts of about a dozen major contributors)and only let down (as most are) by some of those participating on occasion. These people wish to gain a fast answer to a tricky problem which they prolly have no expertise or desire to solve THEMSELVES but merely wish to use any information to try to resolve an external issue. I have in mind that pertaining when they have received a technical quote from a motor repairer which is beyond their means and gives rise to a belief they should try a DIY fix...
The unresolved issue is one of FAQ's.....
The psyche of the human being means most have a need to BLOG and dont want to follow a list of probabilities relating to someone else's motor. Yes, they want to gain a personal diagnosis...The problem then is, most people do not recognise the best advice from the cheapest...IMHO

This one seems busy-ish. 850 members. It might just have filled the niche.
