Hello all...
I am new to Difflock but have been reading the forums for over a month now and they provide a huge wealth of information. Problem is now more than ever, I want to get involved in off-road driving!
After I move house next month I was planning on joining the club with my vitara. Its an N-reg that has never had any serious issues until this year's MOT. It had been off the road for a year sat on a driveway and it is apparent that the tin worm has been at it badly! Turns out the off side front body mounting are badly corroded.
The MOT test was carried out by Quick Fit and they recommended a garage to look at the welding. The guy's response of 'bloody hell' about sums it up. He reckons there is over a day's amount of work to be done to fabricate a new section to be welded on. Which obviously adds up the $$$.
I do not have a problem in paying people to do work but I would like to get involved in the upkeep of the truck myself if it is worth keeping. However it is whether the truck is worth keeping that is what is bothering me!
I think what I would like is a knowledgeable club member to give the Vit a once over and let me know whether its feasible to keep it and use it as a base for adding some mods to improve the capability of the beast!! Maybe also help me do some of the work for some beer!
Sorry for the long first post... I will go and try to get some pictures of the rusty area....
