|
|
|
All
As you should be aware Potarch is on Sunday, this is different from our normal events, and the following should be considered;
1 First Aid kit per vehicle - Nothing fancy
2 Each vehicle must have a fire extingusiher
3 Be onsite for 9am Sunday Morning - To allow for 10 am start - There is scruntineering and maps to be given out etc.
4 This time its two winches per team - However you want to set that up
5 Cost is £20 for car and driver, each passenger/winch bitch is an additional £5. Minimum age is 14 as usual
See you all there for what should be a great day out.
Phil (on behalf of BORDC)

How come the need for two winches?
Surely that will rule some people out considering how late in the day it is to notify everyone.

I thought the rules were one winch per team,if I had known that I would have spent a few nights fitting a winch to Lynns zook, finding out on Friday evening that the rules have changed isnt really fair

Corr blimey, we didn't expect that backlash - Rule revoked - Back to one winch per team
Also G - It was a maximum of 2 winches, not a requirement to have two winches.
Hope you all enjoy the day

Today’s orienteering event had a bumper turnout with a total of 15 teams comprising of 30 motors and 52 competitors. Although overcast the weather was pleasant and dry throughout.
The results are as follows. Apologies to the bitches (passengers) as I only noted the drives names on the results sheet and Maria has the rest of the paperwork. Also apologies for any typo’s!
1st Phil Birt/Gavin McLeod 44pts
2nd = Ivor Mathers/Ian Ogalvie 37pts
2nd = Sandy Adams/Hugh Dennis 37pts (despite Sandy only having 2WD for the afternoon)
4th James Hillerby/Stephen Clement 34 pts
5th Andrew Johnston/Scott Cumming 28pts
6th Allan Fraser/Sandy Gray 27pts
7th Andy Hill/James Steel 25pts
8th Derek Massie/Stewart Lawson 23pts
9th Albert Bastable/David Halliday 17pts
10th Nick Pike/James Watson 16pts
11th Stephen Keay/Lynn Campbell 14pts
12th Lee Rhodes/Alistair Johnston 11pts
13th Graeme Godsman/Stuart Eddie 7pts
14th Jim King/Brian McErlean 6pts (retired early)
15th Richard Mann/Barry Cruickshank 0pts
If Richard and Barry had made it back in time instead of arriving at the finish 20+ minutes late they would have had 32pts and been 5th. I was surprised how many people punched the wrong box. All that effort wasted as we do check!
Thanks to everyone who helped set things up yesterday and especially to Allan who did a sterling job of getting the kit ready.
Let’s hope the next one is as good.
Ken

Well blame G!!!
Although I helped with the set up, I thought it was our best yet, and hopefully see some pics on here soon.
My favourite punch was punch A6, I think I was first and last to drive up to it, I had winch backwards to get back out though, it was just a bottomless bog.
The B's were generally quite a challenge and there double pointer deserved its double points!!!
Stevey Burger and Lynn didn't have a very good start...they both needed help to get to start line (even in Japanese vehicles!) Stevey lost a propshaft and Lynns wheels started falling off
Sandy blew a front diff, but Hugh (in Mogrover) just towed him around another 4 punches.....!
So what was your favourite punch????
Phil

I think that proved how hard the courses were that we struggled to get to the starting point .
On a more serious note it was a fantastic day,and a big thankyou to all the organisers who had obviously put a lot of hard work into the day.
I will put my pics up as soon as i get my camera back from Arran.
Mental notes for next time :throw lynns carburator into scrap heap, learn to read maps properly, tighten wheel nuts, make sure the batteries i buy fit the gps (thanks Hugh for your spare ones) and fit new uj"s before every outing.
Looking forward to the next one already.

Well it was definatly th best yet c1 was the best punch as I drove straight to it whilst much debate was happening, Sandy however just sank. Bit of a downer when Sandy blew the front diff but after bumming around kicking up dust we set to and got 5 punches both motors to each one. Well its all go at team HQ another set of axles to fit and then there was two
