Just thought I would throw up a picture of my local offroading haunt. You'ld never guess it was wet muddy scotland... And guess what, i've broken down again!

That was carb trouble, the idle was too slow and it could be a bit of a pig to start when warm. I've since sorted out the idle but it probably needs a bit more fettling as now its not so keen to start when cold where as before it would start on the button.

Folk on the Lada.co.uk forum may of heard me talk of the "impossible hill"
I found a good picture of it taken on Boxing day. The 'impossible hill' is the tyre tracks off to the left of my Niva, which (you'll be surprised to learn) had just broken down. I'm starting to notice a theme...

How many broken driveshafts is that responsible for?

Incredibly none! The surface is so loose the wheels tend to spin quite easily. However there's a bit of a hollow in the middle of the gully (you can see it more clearly round my mates fumey land rover. It was around about where my Niva is stopped is where I cross-axled my Panda and blew the differential in to thousands of little bits dabbing the brakes trying to get free.

Surely a winch will be mounted. Not sure about the type, maybe a Warn M8000, but definitely I need one.

No need to go too big. I run a Superwinch X6, with 6000lbs pull (2800kg) and that's plenty adequate!
