A colleague of mine is re-building a 109" and is considering a 200Tdi. Is this an easy fit in a Series?

not too difficult.use a layflat intercooler off a jap motor, one that sits ontop of the motor, you`ll have to space the motor to the pass side so the prop will clear the drain to the sump

Here's a useful site to show how it's done, though these guys removed the turbo from the engine to down rate it.

A 200tdi can cause havoc with a Series transmission, so whilst the engine is out it would be a good idea that the gearbox and tranferbox were at least looked at, rebuilt or possibly replaced with a later gearbox.
For my 300tdi conversion, I'm replacing my SIII gearbox with a LT77 from a Defender, and using Ashcrofts convertion kit to mate it to my SIII transfer case to keep selectable 2/4WD.
