did the deal today, so in about 10 days or so I should be able to take delivery of the 421 ex Snow Blower Mog
So heres a few questions
The fella I'm getting the mog from has stripped and rebuilt the brakes but is unsure how to connect the air system to th ebrake system, there are 2 air pipes in the engine bay next to the pedal box one is an air feed (live when engine is running) and the other is pressurised when the pedal is depressed - where/what do they connect to? has anyone got a manual or diagram for a 421?
Not sure of what the gearing is going to be like I've been told it might have high gearing for road use, but the current owner has never driven it on the road and doesnt know for sure, I could only test it on his driveway/trak in first and second gear so I'm none the wiser - can you alter the gearing for roadspeed or should I get ready for life in the crawler lane?
On a similar subject how much will larger tyres affect the gearing, its on 10.5x20 tyres at the mo, been looking at 12.5x20s

ive got a manual will have a look when i get back as for gearing they are very very low geared i set of in third the first two are useless unless your offroad or climbing or decending hills but yours has had the larger tyres fitted (normally 10.5/18)the top speed on any of the smaller mogs is 30mph if you can get it to go that quick good look
offroad they are not quick or realey powerfull and tend to plod about using the traction of the tyres (where as in another 4x4 you can use momentum to get you up a hill) your stuck by just driving at it slowly and hope theres enough traction for the tyres to claw there way up
GREAT FUN IN MUD AND DEEP WATER
as for larger tyres they just exsagerate the lack of enginge power
raise your center of gravity and on a short mog you want that on your side

most of the off road stoff up here is boggy ground or forestry, which is probably perfect for the mog, speed aint an issue as i said Ive got the v8 hybrid thingy for that
it would be good to get it articulating so i will have to experiment with springs and shocks, i take it the torque tubes have a good range of movement? I keep going back to this vid for a look, I dont know how much work has been done to the suspenssion but its well impressive

bit of a tricky question about the toque tubes rang of movement
the vid your looking at is way longer than yours (so say the ball movement on the tube is 30 degrees the further away the axel is the more movement you have yours is a shorter tube so as long as you dont uverexstend that joint you wont have a major rebuild on your hand)
to check your max movement pull the gator of the ball housing and jack the rear of the mog up untill the tube is nearly touching the housing then make up a limiting strap to stop it going any further

hi steve
l have just bought a mog, so will bugging every body with questions from now on
my mog tyres don't look worn at all but they are perished and cracked so a new set wouldn't go amiss, l see you were buying some recently, did you get them, are you happy with them and have you got any pics of them fitted, come on boys point me in the right direction
cheers andy

Steve,
Those tyres look good and they're good value. The load capaity quoted on that website, is that per tyre? If it's total vehicle load (surely not?) 1800kg for 90kmph is a bit low for a Mog...
cheers
iain
p.s. Baloo - I've got MPT80's on my 404 and they're the dogs The original bar-tready things have a bit of a crappy reputation for offroad use although I've never used them myself.

That'll be a per tyre rating.
We've had the sliding sideways because of bars effect, and didn't like it at all. Very happy with the MPT80's we've got as well, not tried them is serious ruts yet.
