Here she is, needing a new coat of paint perhaps but running beautifully.

Got the frame and canvas top just waiting to go on.

Excellent, nice one.

You been wheeling yet? What does she do flat out - which I think is a reasonable indicator of health?

I drove the ****** home last Monday night, about 35 miles. To be honest, I lost my bottle at about 75kmph but I'm sure she would go a bit more. The brakes are a bit *****, or at least more ***** than I was expecting...! Surprised I was on backroads so that's my excuse...

The engine runs beautifully and sounds fantastic although it does pop on the overrun quite a lot. Perhaps the carb needs a strip and rebuild. Laughing

I emailed MB about getting proof of age and got an enthusiastic reply from a guy in Unimog customer service in the Netherlands. So hopefully I'll get some new plates issued soon.

Jim, where did you get your black/silver plates from?

Cheers
iain

The plates came from a place on the isle of man by mail order - they were happy to take scans of documents.

Had a quick search and couldn't find them.

Hi

I've been enquiring about black and silver plates, and found a place in Cheadle. Net Registrations (inc number plates direct) I found them at a classic car show, and he would have made me them up without docs (as if they are old enough for silver plates they're exempt from number plate regs, apparently)

An example of prices are Black Pressed (as shaggys are) ...£25 per pair, or same price for square and oblong for front

PM me for further details.

(I am in no way connected to this business)
