Having been ignored for goodness knows how many years its little wonder the diff locks don't work on our G wagen. The known problem being the split pipe to the MCs and the fact that the MC leavers are seized.

It all locks quite accessible to remove, but what are the master and slave cylinders like to work on? Do the use generic oil seals/O rings or do they require patent merc items? If they need merc parts how much damage is repairing the system going to do to my wallet?

Are there any pitfalls to watch out for or hints/tips before I start pulling it all off?

you shouldn't have a problem with the master cylinders as its just a reservoir, with little or no use the levers seize, try unseizeing them first. you can get a repair kit for the slave's

Slave cyls are dead easy, its usually the slaves that are seized and won't allow the levers to come up, open a bleed nipple and try it, will tell you where your problem is.
