deffo don't get anything less than 8000lbs
the 12000 & 13000lbs winchs on ebay are good for the price get one with synthetic rope if you can as steel cable is dangerous |

i would sugest you strip the starter give it a good clean & bit of greese then make sure all connections are good then if it still fails just replace the starter with a good used one or a new 1 | |
