Which ECU have you got? the Denso or the Mitsubishi? I have something in the works for the Mitsu ECU.

I would replace them all with LEDs and use an LED rated flasher unit, otherwise you will need to add resistors to the rear lights to increase the load.

Fettling will be required, the bolt pattern is different and one uses studs, the other bolts, I forget which is which. Its not that difficult though

You will have more chance of finding a late low mileage efi engine than a good carb engine.
