I run ATF in the Peugeot and i think it is the same as hydraulic oil, this is considering an auto gearbox is a hydraulic system, i have run ATF, engine oil and diesel mixed and it still ran.

Mine still runs ok, i have put a bottle of Redline 85plus to raise the cetane of the oil and it seems to run better.

That hose runs to the steel pipe from the back of the water pump to the heater hose, it is used to heat the inlet manifold to aid in fuel vapour.

Hydraulic oil runs LOVELY in a diesel engine.
Almost nicer than Diesel...
Plus its usually very clean.

Could possibly be your heater tap, these tend to expire.
