Cracks as suggested above, 2.8 is a chain, quite straight forward to work on. Shogun/pajero - all engine parts should interchange. Will need new head bolts

I have had no problems with the head that Milner supplied 2 years ago....Not sure where they are made now but come marked Hyundai......as they appear to still ...

There were some Mitsubishi Challengers (grey import sports) that came into the UK with 2.8 engines.

Sports and Challengers should be better compared with L200s rather than Shoguns

Just picked out some facts from a L200 spec sheet. This applies to UK models but should help.
Petrol or diesel - both with column change
1597cc petrol or 2477cc diesel. 5 speed manual - 2wd only.

The `flat steel plate` is normal for a V5MT1.
Should be a bell housing with this....

yeah loads run without the balance belt but they are there for a reason mate, good to see yours is ok running good,
i have fitted the petrol auto box to my diesel swb there the same box but the bell ...
