Thats in the right place.

If its on the engine side of the butterfly you get full advance at idle. Set up like a Mini
If its on the air filter side of the butterfly you get no (or minimal) advance ...

In that case I would suggest some 1.5" spring spacers and some 1.5" shock extensions if you lift it in future... quite easy and relatively cheap.

We've got tons of these in Malta.
The mercs with the correct arms were the most common taxi here until 5-10 years ago so theres loads in scrap yards. Think about €30 each

No, should be fine if you have the whole vehicle.
However, you might need to sort out a few tricky bits such as the immobiliser ring around the ignition barrel, and the speed sensor (if it has one)
