That is what I thought re the clamps.

Re the nuts - there is a nut on the TRE, but what about the 'fixed' end, does this need a nut, or does it just get screwed on as far as possible?

I don't know about disco 200's, but my 200 defender has always run on the cool side of the dial. Don't know the exact temp but it's always been that way for me!

Have tried a chain wrench and a stilston/ oil filter type wrench both to no avail! Cannot get a good enough grip to hold it still.
