| Its usually a silencer/muffler - cuts down on resonant noise.
Sometimes contains a spark arrester. It'll be fine with it removed. |

| Are they not working properly or not working at all?
is there a load sensing valve above the rear axle? these sometimes have a bleed nipple on them, check the valve isn't seized also. |

Have you cleaned the fuel sediment trap? Check the wire connection onto the fuel cutoff solenoid. |
