any advise on if a unit from a different model will fit the fixings?

seen a few with prefix 31400 but with different end numbers.

My GV 1.6 2002 has a Mitsubishi 31400 66d00 alternator, which is now goosed.

the wiper issue was the actual control board behind the wheel.
there is a square flat component that may be a capacitor, and that was crispy fried.

just looked at the images for the 30amp relay, and the pin numbers are stamped on the relay. makes perfect sense now.

Try starting it with a wire going directly from the battery +ve terminal to the small connector on the starter.

when my alternator packed up, it turned out to be the brushes, they were stuck in, and also very worn.

Mine was the same as you described, with external fan and a single flat connector inside.
