Perhaps the easiest way on the rear is to look at where it joins the axle: if it screws into a T-piece with a steel pipe splitting either way to each rear drum then you need the male type rear hose.

go to your local bike shop.. get a gear cable.. sorted.

is it a barrel fitting on one end and just the wire the other end?
Might get myself a nice Teflon coated one.

just had it mot'd after 3 months up on jacks, symptoms started immediately

it revs through full range after switch on as it should do, then 5min later power disapears and wont rev beyond 2k or ...

48.7x3.2 is MSA spec, but if you don't plan on competing then that doesnt apply to you however its probably a good size to go for, they must use that spec for a reason.
