I got fed up with DVLA and VOSA. I wrote directly to TFL, including pictures of my vehicle. 10 days later I had a letter in my hand stating that my Surf is EXEMPT from LEZ charges. Very Happy

Sadly they wouldn't be viable in the UK. They wouldn't conform to EU regs and the jobsworth from the council will insist that all houses MUST have 2M concrete footings.

If the battery -ve earth is convenient there is no reason why you shouldn't use it. The only criteria for earth connections is that they should be as short as possible.

Good write-up. While the sump is off it also helps to move the gear selector through all the gears, this releases some more fluid from the gearbox.
