Any one tell me the ratios of Transfer boxes (L230)

Looking to re-gear a 300tdi Gearbox for a 101 .

I guess that

5th @ 2800 will give 1:0.77 -> 1:1-> 1:5.75 = on a 9x16 wheel gives ...

Just snatch the engine out. so much to work when you can actually see what your doing.

Done two now and this is the third, I rememberd I could do it with out the transfer box out etc. Remembered it being easy.. This one is a pig.

Come on then share the trick.....

We have are trying to get the gearbox out of an SJ and he can't it't won't drop through the gap. So we can do the clutch. Don't think there is enough room to do it ...

Eventuly got a plug and a spare lead. and did some testing....

only about half the cyclinders actually spark, (cap new and rotor new)...

v8 3.5 WITH SU carbs (in a 101)
Ok replace the points and coil with an "aftermarket" electronic points and fired it up as per diagram.


Set engine to TDC

Turn over and it runs (just) ...

A.M.Phillip at Forfar, they are the main agent for these trucks.

There Chief Mech also knows quite a bit about them which helps. He was the one that fixed my fourwheel drive Very Happy

Good to hear - Sounds like a similar problem to my one.

Make sure the hoses are dry I had problems with mositure freezing in the vacuum switch also

OK ford/ IVECO solved problem,

Under the bonnet at the left hand side there are some vacum things, I believe one of these was plumbed **** for tit they have a onedriection valve inside them.

All this cold weather and Snow - water will have got into the Handbrake Bum and cause it to Sieze up. - Fact of LIFE.

I bought a jimny about 3 mOnths ago for around that.

Cheap set of AT tyres and ensure the 4x4 is working and you get far with no probs.

Cheap insurance £215 for Ins & Cheap Tax aswell....

The Vit still has a chassis IIRC there fore should be simple to lift off old shell and replace.......

Finally threw away those bloody Auto Hubs and fitted manual ones from an SJ.
